Peru: Hogar de Esperanza

Peru

I love celebrating stories of redemption!

When I received an email from Pablo Cenepo-Torres a few weeks back with one of those stories, I knew I needed to pass it along to you.

Pablo and his wife Sarah are the Directors at Hogar de Esperanza, an Orphanos partner in Peru (I wrote about them in September last year).

This story isn’t about the great care they and those on staff provide, but rather about one under their care.

In June 2022, preteen Analuz received the notification she had always wanted; she was being adopted! This joyful news came with some mixed emotions, as Pablo and Sarah weren’t able to communicate with the adoptive mother. It can sometimes be a mystery as to who is adopting one of the children that the staff has grown to love.

Nonetheless, the process was finalized and Analuz attempted to settle into her new home.

The situation quickly took a turn for the worst though.

Analuz received the heartbreaking news that this adoptive mother no longer wanted her, and the Peruvian authorities told Pablo she was being returned.

Try to put yourself into Analuz’ shoes. What a rollercoaster of emotions she must have felt.

The staff kept a close eye on Analuz upon her return and were delighted to see her adjust back to life in the home without any sort of resentment or bitterness.

They began to pray even harder for Analuz’ adoption.

And would you happen to know that less than 12 months later, the sweet girl was adopted by strong, committed Christ followers?!

The process was completed in March and Analuz is in her forever home!

I step back from this story and rejoice. Sometimes the Lord gives and other times He takes away. In the end, the final result is His perfect plan, greater than anything you or I can comprehend. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Would you take 30 seconds from your day and pray for Analuz and her new home?
