Dasha’s Light Bulb Moment

Russia

Ihave always loved the promise that comes from Galatians 6:9.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

That’s what Paul writes to the church in Galatia. But oftentimes, I feel like he wrote that for me.

Whether it’s loving my family, working with excellence or interacting with grace, this verse applies to all of life.

Our partners experience it too. Zhenya and Olga, Directors at The Harbor Kursk, shared about their recent conversations with a graduate of their program, Dasha.

The staff at Harbor Kursk invest “prayers, energy, hours, days and years” into their students. Many graduates find the enticements of the world to be too great.

But there are some who pursue worthy things. Dasha is one of those.

She got married last summer and the newlyweds are working hard. They’re committed to being wise with their money.

Dasha recalled her “light bulb” moment of change to Zhenya and Olga,

“One day I was just sitting around at my rented apartment, and I realized that I had nothing, everything was slipping out of my hands. I remembered you guys and everything you told me, and I realized that it was no longer possible to live like this.”

Zhenya and Olga could have given up, but they didn’t. They still haven’t either because they say one very important thing is missing in Dash’a life: a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I would encourage you to take 60 seconds and pray for Dasha, The Harbor Kursk and Zhenya and Olga as they love on these students.

Praise the Lord for each of our partners who continue sowing seeds of hope and love into orphans and vulnerable children around the globe!
