Kingdom Community Builders

It was just an old vacant lot in an inner city neighborhood. Weeds as high as a vehicle. Trash and debris all over. It was not the kind of lot you would imagine if you were thinking about children playing freely and safely. But Orphanos partner Don Gilbert saw something different. Where others saw blight, Don saw potential.

After many fervent prayers, the Lord opened the door for Don and Kingdom Community Builders to begin working with a local ministry in the Orange Mound community of Memphis, TN to revitalize this quarter-acre vacant lot into a “pocket park.” The Lord has been faithful to provide funding and work teams. The once-vacant lot will become a community gathering space with a stage, outdoor movie nights, picnic tables, a grill, horseshoe pit and outdoor games for children. 

We are so proud of Don and his team at Kingdom Community Builders for their faithful work in creating asset-based community development projects in the inner city of Memphis. They utilize the strengths of the community that are already in place to help develop solutions for neighborhood revitalization.
