The State of Orphanos

Memphis, TN

Last week I sent an email with information on the organization’s 2022 Impact Report. If you have not reviewed that report, I would humbly ask you invest a moment and put your eyes on it. You can find it here.

Annual Impact Reports are important, but they can only say so much. There are gaps that need to be filled so you are aware of The State of Orphanos. May I have a moment of your time to fill in some of those gaps?

Financially, the organization is currently on stable footing. With a successful end of year campaign (Double December), coupled with a $25,000 matching donation, we hold a positive month-by-month outlook in 2023.

However, we are aware that the Lord does not want us to be lazy or entitled, so my team is working hard on our other important fundraising event: the 16th annual Orphanos Classic.

Another big item on the Orphanos calendar is the 2023 Bi-Annual Global Retreat. We extend an invite to every one of our partners for this opportunity of rest and training. It’s a chance for these partners to spend a week with others who can relate to the challenges and hardships of being on the field. Outside of travel arrangements, Orphanos is able to offer this at no charge because of your generosity.

I am extremely excited to announce a staffing addition. Marisol Soliz, who currently serves in Bolivia as Director of Daughters of the King orphanage, will be serving in our Ministry Care role. Marco, Marisol and their daughter Grace are in the midst of transition; they plan to be in Memphis soon. Marisol will coach and encourage our global ministry partners towards a deeper level of administrative excellence. Welcome to the team, Marisol!

Orphanos continues to impact a greater number of children through our expanding number of partners.

  • With the January addition of our new partners Jason & Becky Suon, the Orphanos team now serves 21 missionary families and 24 child care projects in 27 different countries.
  • Denise, Ximena and Shelly, the three ladies working in our Money Care department, processed over $5.4 million in donations this past year. Every penny of that was invested to support our global partners.
  • Over 32,900 children were impacted through the work of our partners in 2022.

I’ve mentioned before that we started Orphanos in 1997. Our first office space was a converted bedroom in a donor’s home. I coordinated and led the first mission trip under the Orphanos umbrella that year.

I mention that again now because September 1, 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of Orphanos. When I think about all the Lord has done through Orphanos, it causes my soul to pour forth deep emotions. I am humbled and grateful.

To every missionary and every donor who has supported and partnered with Orphanos: THANK YOU!

I am hopeful that the Lord continues to blossom Orphanos another 25 years so that even more orphans and vulnerable children are impacted for His name’s sake!

Grace & Peace,

Wayne Sneed
