Pro-Vision International Producing Steady Reform

South Africa

Earlier this month I was on curtain-hanging duty. The Lord had provided funds for Orphanos to purchase these curtains for our office and so I set aside a Saturday evening to hang them.

I was quickly reminded that tall and wide windows can mean many trips up and down a ladder. Thankfully, I had a friend who was willing to help me.

This friend provided an extra set of hands, oversaw the project from a different perspective and gave encouragement during the process.

My friend’s curtain-hanging guidance was a shadow of the work Pro-Vision International (PVI) does.

PVI was founded by Orphanos partner Ted Carr in 2000 and is currently being led by another partner, Damon Greville. This missions serving agency utilizes a M-cubed approach, embracing the essential community development elements of Mentoring, Money and Management.

PVI comes alongside an existing mission organization, like current Orphanos partner Starfish Babies, and seeks to empower the mission to achieve its full potential. Their faithful service and experience has allowed them to complete nearly 100 multi-layered projects over their 22 years.

One recently-completed project was eight years in the making but it hit home with me.

Janai Children’s Home was started by Mary and Jeff. The couple had a vision to house children with mental and physical disabilities, but their small residential home with one bathroom was at capacity way before the number of children hit 23.

When chaos reigned in the small home, exhaustion set in and the meager resources dwindled, Janai’s board asked PVI to step in.

Ted, Damon and the PVI team went to work, conducting a full analysis of the ministry, finances and facilities. They provided wisdom, instituted financial accountability and continued personal counseling services.

Steady change resulted.

The lives of Mary, Jeff and each child at Janai benefitted dramatically as the home transformed into an adequately functional and sustainable ministry.

Volunteers were recruited. Facilities were revamped. A veggie garden was established. And by God’s grace, a place of security and comfort was the final result.

Janai means “God has answered” and this time, the answer came through our friends at Pro-Vision International. They are doing some amazing work all across Africa to support those involved with orphans and vulnerable children. Praise God for their faithfulness!

Grace & Peace,
