Faithful Servitude at Isaac Children’s Home

South Korea

The legacy of faithful women in the Bible is truly inspiring. Have you ever thought about it?

I was reminded of this idea by Paul’s words to Timothy in his second letter. He traced his disciple’s sincere faith back to how it “dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice” (II Tim 1:5a). These two women join many others as strong examples of putting worth in God’s Word.

The two women lived and taught the gospel to Timothy, thereby acting in God’s grace for the salvation of his soul. It shows that there are important truths children can learn specifically from faithful women.

This truth is manifested today as I think about Mrs. Noh and her fellow workers that are involved with Isaac Children’s Home (ICH), an Orphanos partner located in South Korea.

Mrs. Noh married into the family that founded ICH. She began work at the home, taking on the role of Office Manager in 1977 before stepping into her current role as Director in 1996. She’s been a faithful presence to countless children for 45 years!

ICH houses children with ages ranging from 3 to 19. They come with a wide variety of backgrounds: abusive situations, street children or real orphans. Basically, they believe the Lord sends them the children they receive and it’s their job to love them unconditionally.

I receive monthly updates from ICH and it’s incredible to hear of the small deposits Mrs. Noh and her staff place into the hearts of these children through everyday tasks.

Whether it’s supporting them in their schoolwork, laughing with them during games of yut-nori, or having them help cook bowls of red bean bing-su, I think the approach ICH takes is beautiful.

Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life discipleship is best transferred by faithfulness during the small moments of life. After all, there are way more small life moments than big ones.

I think that truth could be the backbone of Paul’s thinking in II Timothy. I am so encouraged to see it played out today by Mrs. Noh and the group of faithful women at a small home in South Korea.
