Found at Anchor of Love: Luis Angel

Guaymas, Mexico

Along time ago, in a galaxy far, far away there was life without cell phones and GPS (sounds pretty wild, right)! If you’re older than 30, you may remember those days like I do.

Technology has dramatically changed since then and one specific way that change manifests itself is how we rarely ever get lost.

If I am driving around someplace and meeting someone at a new place, I don’t have to print out directions from the computer, or even bring along my atlas book; I have my phone and my truck’s GPS. What a blessing.

But do you remember back in the old days when those things were nonexistent? When we would have to stop at a gas station and ask for directions? At times, those situations left me unsettled and anxious.

The truth of the matter is that people are indeed still lost today, both physically and spiritually.

Let me tell you a story about one who has been found.

Luis Ángel is an 11-year-old boy who recently landed at Ancla de Amor (Anchor of Love), a home directly connected to our partner Children of Hope. Like each home or ministry within the Children of Hope network, Ancla de Amor is located in Mexico.

Prior to his time at the home, Luis was lost.

He was literally placed on Amber Alert, wandering around the Mexican streets without his mom’s knowledge of his whereabouts. Because Luis’ father is not in the picture, he would be at home alone while his mother worked each day to provide. Curiosity obviously struck the young boy and he took off for a few days before eventually returning home.

Pressing in even further, Luis was raised without rules, discipline, education, family attachment and much less without knowing God or His Word. Sadly, he was lost.

But God, in accordance with His perfect will, has changed the trajectory of Luis’ life through the presence of the home. Here’s an excerpt taken from last month’s Children of Hope newsletter:

“When he arrived at Ancla, it was very difficult for him to adapt to the new situation. Today, after so many challenges, Luis Ángel is a completely different child…Little by little, God is healing Luis’ lost soul and creating a new identity in him.

Just like the one sheep that wandered astray from the pack of 99 in Matthew 18, I’m reminded that “it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”

Praise God for His intimate knowledge of every lost child and orphan on the planet. He is the Good Shepherd, which means that each of His sheep will return home safe and sound.

Praise God for our partners, who play a pivotal role in rescuing these little ones according to His will.

Grace & Peace,

Wayne Sneed
