Project Description

Pro-Vision Mozambique

Mozambique, Africa

Pro-Vision Mozambique is about supporting and encouraging the Vision and Spiritual dreams God has given Mozambican National Christians.  As founder members and pioneers, Mark and Les Harper, coming into Pro-Vision from Youth for Christ, which they pioneered in Mozambique from 1995-2013, are staff and Project leaders, with a team of Mozambican co-mentors including Felicia, Gervasio and Pastors Joao, Antonio, Judas, Marta and Alfredo. Our purpose is to identify visionary servant leaders involved in building the Kingdom of God faithfully, despite limited resources,  by impacting their communities through visionary projects and evangelistic efforts.

By invitation and through a selection process we come alongside the leader in a structured mentoring process. The goal is strategically influencing the growth of the kingdom of God through the mentoring and equipping of exceptional servant leaders who pursue visionary goals in obedience to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our uniqueness is reflected in a specialized mentoring approach focused on exceptional leaders.  We refer to these persons as Servant Leaders and to our mentoring methodology as M-Cubed. We select a respected Christian leader and provide –

  •         Mentoring (discipling and skills development),
  •         Money (resourcing and networking) and
  •         Management (capacity building and coaching.)

The process equips the leader, enabling a cascade effect that flows down impacting the staff and mission of the organization, ultimately creating an intervention within a community.

Mozambique has a secular government and schooling system, but almost 2 decades of forced communist atheist propaganda in schools has left a largely unreached generation – more so in rural communities lacking schools, where only a few adults in each village are able to read even the simplest text, and where Bibles are hard to find. Child marriage was only outlawed in 2019, and Mozambique has the 2nd worst statistics in Africa for premature marriage (48% of marriages involve a bride under 18). Our team is therefore involved in Orphan Sunday, Family Strengthening education (God’s plan for the family) and Protective Behaviour and Anti-trafficking education to protect children, as well as training Children’s workers, Child Evangelists, and Pre-School teachers.

Animism is the official religion of 45% of the population, but this is in fact far higher, because of syncretism in many denominations, where people resort back to the witchdoctor in times of family crisis or illness, while still attending church on Sundays. At the same time, God is doing a new thing! Hunger exists in rural communities, to know God and His word – and audio Bibles and basic Community Bible Study materials are welcomed.

We currently have 3 focus areas in Mozambique –

  •         Pioneer evangelism and Community Bible Study/discipleship groups
  •         ROYAL TREASURES AND FATHER’S HOUSE – Orphan support and Christian preschools
  •         PREACHING IN PRACTICE – Community service projects – including water supply, medical outreach, building of churches or church-schools, Cyclone, flood or drought relief, etc.
