Project Description

A New Beginning

Romania

How can you make a difference in a child’s life? What about family?

Our work is about getting the abandoned children of Romania into adoptive and foster families, not an orphanage and not international adoption. Because life after adoption is so challenging, we have hired qualified Christian social workers and psychologists to guide and encourage families. The children we serve have suffered abuse of every type, and now their new parents need special tools. We are there even when it is hard. We can do this work here in Romania, because people like you in America pray and donate.

Since 2017, we have certified about 45 families a year for adoption. In the early years we spoke theoretically out of books. Now, step by step we work based on experience with families we have served before and after placement.

We want couples going into adoption to be as prepared as possible, so we address difficult themes including:

what they want to accomplish and feel as a parent and what aspects can and cannot be fulfilled by an adopted child
infertility and its effects on each person and over the couple’s relationship
early childhood trauma and it’s effects on child development and relational skills
how being in the presence of a child in psychological pain can release their own issues that they have learned to cover over, hide and suppress so they could function
relationships with birth parents and former foster parents.

In all we do, we are gentle, professional and make it clear that we love the Lord.
