Project Description

For 25 years, The Harbor SP has supported orphans transitioning into society after state care. The organization provides residential support to youth leaving institutions, offering them a stable living environment during their transition.

Our vocational training center serves both youth preparing to leave care and those still residing in institutions by teaching practical job skills and trades. The sports program encourages participants, through activities such as soccer, volleyball, and fencing, to develop teamwork and character based on Christian values.

Additional initiatives include the Pearl Single Mothers program, which helps single mothers—often former orphans themselves—parent confidently and avoid cycles of abandonment; the I am Valuable program, which educates at-risk youth about self-worth and substance abuse prevention from a Christian perspective; and the School of Rap, using music to share faith and positive messages. We focus on quality rather than quantity and use an individual and holistic approach in caring for the least of these.

One inspiring example is Anastasia. She came to us after aging out of state care, with little support and no family to turn to. Through the guidance and encouragement, she received in our programs, Anastasia continued her education. She discovered her passion for psychology and sewing at our vocational center. Today, Anastasia works as an assistant director at our vocational training center. She is a powerful role model to many orphans. Her journey from vulnerability to hope, and her becoming a follower of Christ, show just two ways The Harbor SP makes a lasting difference.

We have been richly blessed to see many young adults give their lives to the Lord. Many have become educated and successful in society. About 5 percent become active members by giving back to those in need.
