Project Description
The Purpose of Indian Village Mission:
The Purpose of Indian Village Mission is to provide education, shelter and food to empower vulnerable children who have been denied their basic needs and right to education. Through the empowerment, the children can become responsible, independent and faithful citizens of our country. Our ultimate goal is to make them disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Origin of the Ministry:
God provided a vision to start the Indian Village Mission Home in 2000, because of the great need to provide for orphan boys.
Location of Indian Village Mission:
The Indian Village Mission Children’s Home is located in Tiruvallur, a village in the southern part of India, 30 miles from the Chennai Airport. Indian Village Mission has one small building with only 2 rooms to accommodate 20 children.
What we do:
We provide care for orphans. Most of the children come through missionary referrals from different villages. The children must be verified and approved by government officials. They come with a wide variety of backgrounds: abusive situations, street children, real orphans. We strongly believe the Lord sends them to us, so we do our best to nurture them.
Once they complete schooling, we give them vocational training to become independent and productive citizens. We have empowered more than 100 boys who are working in many industries, such as electricians, plumbers, and building contractors.
How many children are at Indian Village Mission Children’s Home?
There are typically 20 children in the home ranging in age from 6 to 18.
What does Indian Village Mission Children’s Home provide for the children?
We take care of all the children’s needs: shelter, food, education and vocational training.
Other ministry we provide:
- Mission to blind people – We serve blind people on a monthly basis. We provide rice and groceries in order to uplift them so they no longer need to beg.
- Missionary support: We support missionaries who work in the villages, making great sacrifices. Most do not have enough resources and find it very difficult to educate their children and manage their families.
- Female children’s support: A missionary passed away during Covid and left his family destitute. We support one of the missionary’s surviving daughters.
The Greatest Need and Vision:
- An additional building for the Boy’s orphanage: $125,600 is urgently needed to make required improvements in care for the boys (see the “building project details” button above).
- Child Sponsorship: $50/month
- A van for the Children Home: $20,000. It has been very difficult taking the children to school since they have to walk long distance, especially during rain and summer season.
