SCRIPTURAL ENCOURAGEMENTS
‘Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the
scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in the law he meditates
day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that
bring forth it’s fruit in season, whose leaf also shall not wither, whatever he
does shall prosper.’ Psalm 1: 1-3
ORPHANOS -
As fall is soon approaching us, the work load at the Orphanos
office is beginning to increase. We are preparing for the Memphis Messiah,
Kard4Kids, sending mission teams to our partner homes, and much more. God
is keeping us on our toes and busy! Praise the Lord for the work He is
doing through us!
-
Please pray for us as the work load is increasing which can
bring about stress.
-
Please pray that we will prioritize our time in the office
and that we will be able to accomplish the tasks ahead of us.
-
Please pray for all the planning that the Memphis Messiah
requires and that we will be able to bless even more inner city students this
year.
-
Please pray that God will be glorified by the work we are
doing.
WORLD WEEKEND OF PRAYER
FOR CHILDREN AT RISK -
We have now collated the feedback response to the World
Weekend of Prayer this year. We have been encouraged by the answers to prayer
and estimate that well over 2 million people participated in events over the
weekend. From the church in New Delhi, India who prayed for a young boy
suffering from a rare disease in his abdomen who testified to being healed the
following Sunday, right through to children in a ministry in Nigeria who prayed
that God would provide a shelter for homeless children and then the ministry
receiving a phone call offering them 8 plots of land to develop their work with
orphaned children in Kaduna! For more feedback please visit the viva website
where a full report will be online by the end of the week.
-
Please keep in prayer the planning for next years World
Weekend of Prayer 5-6th June 2010
-
Pray that more people will catch our Father’s heart to pray
for children at risk and that there will be ongoing and sustainable prayer for
the huge numbers of hurting and neglected children.
-
Pray that prayer strategies will be put in place to make a
difference. Be open and obedient to what Father God may be showing you.
-
Pray for Alex Cabez in Viva’s Latin America regional center
who will be coordinating the material produced for the WWP 2010.
-
Pray that communication will be good between the nations
and that language will be no barrier as prayer is raised globally.
INDIA –
The India Missions Association has marked September 7th as a
prayer day for India. We want to join with them in praying into the many issues
that face millions of children ‘at risk’ in this nation. The good news is that
there is much great work being done in Jesus name.
In May 2009, 4 members of Blossoms Network in Hyderabad and 3
staff of World Vision from Vijayawada project were trained to counsel children
through the SGM Lifewords Pavement Project. The Pavement Project involves trauma
counseling through a Picture Me process using the ‘Green Bag’. This is a bible
based counseling resource and is very effective in helping children deal with
the trauma’s they have faced. In July and August 2009, 48 children from street
rescue projects, orphan care, slum locality and HIV projects were counseled
using the ‘Green Bag’.
The ‘ASHA FORUM’ is an international forum of Christian NGO’s
dealing with issues of child sexual exploitation and trafficking. It was formed
in 2001. The forum envisions rebuilding the lives of sexually exploited
children. It informs, unites, equips & mobilizes Christians worldwide in
preventing all forms of child sexual abuse. The Asha forum has been hosted by
Viva. The South India Regional Consultation (SIRC) on child sexual exploitation
which was organized in July paved the way for the birth of India Asha Forum
based at Bangalore. 24 participants of SIRC from different NGO’s had signed up
to be part of Asha Forum Bangalore. The 1st planning meeting was held on August
24th 2009. 15 members have attended the meeting from Bangalore with one
representation from Chennai. The potential outcomes of such a forum are
encouraging and we want to pray a release of fruitfulness out of this
collaboration for the benefit of sexually exploited children.
-
Pray for the development of a prayer resource focusing on
sexual exploitation issues, that it will be produced in time for the Christmas
season.
-
Pray for successful mapping and the development of a
directory of NGO’s working in the area of child sexual exploitation in
Bangalore.
-
Pray for wisdom and favor as mapping is done around the
child trafficking route in India starting with South India.
-
Praise God for the success of the Pavement Project training
in Hyderabad and that many children are meeting Jesus and learning about His
amazing love and the healing that can come as a result.
-
Pray for the Asha Forum consultation being held in Kolkata
15- 17th September.
4/14 WINDOW
A popular phrase over the last few years has been the term
‘10/40 window’ when referring to the large portion of the globe currently
unreached with the gospel. There is a growing recognition that children between
the ages of 4 and 14 are also currently unreached and the phrase 4/14 window has
emerged and is being popularly used. There is to be a global consultation around
the 4/14 window next week in New York and we want to pray that as many church
leaders gather to focus on a strategic response to this precious group, there
will be significant and divinely inspired outcomes.
-
Pray for the Transform World team who are facilitating this
gathering.
-
Pray for the logistics of people gathered that the voice of
the Father will be heard.
-
Pray that those who attend will find the focus helpful and
that there would be good fruit and strategic investment from this gathering,
especially towards children at risk who represent a huge number of the 4/14
population.
CHILDREN LABELED AS
WITCHES
‘The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My
purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life’ John 10:10 (NLT)
Bethany Children’s Trust has been working first hand with
projects involved in rescuing children who have been accused of being child
witches. We have previously prayed about this situation and are happy to report
that BCT is now championing a prayer campaign to bring about significant change,
through prayer to the widespread situation of children being labeled and abused
as ‘witches’. To order BCT’s 10:10 prayer guide based on the above scripture,
and join the campaign please contact the BCT office.
