ETHIOPIA
There have been several prayer requests coming in
from Ethiopia. It seems that things are happening for the good and benefit of
the children there. Sharon children’s service have requested prayer. They held a
minister’s training conference as well as teaching for all church members of the
town in Jijiga Eastern Ethiopia where Ethiopian Somalii people live. It was a
first for the Evangelical church fellowship and they request our prayer support.
Viva has the beginnings of a network in Addis Ababa and would also appreciate
prayers regarding a proposal which would give funding for network development in
this country. It seems the time is right and prayers are needed to see things
come to fulfillment.
-
Pray for the board of trustees of a company who
will meet on the 23rd February to discuss potential funding for the fledgling
network in Addis. Pray for Sharon children’s service as they follow up on the
ministers conference, for their protection and blessing.
-
Pray that God would visit the Somalii region
and Jijiga in particular and that this generation of children would come to
know Jesus as Savior.
CAMBODIA
About 1.7 million people – nearly a quarter of
the population – died during the four years that the Khmer Rouge was in power
after it overthrew the American-backed government in 1975. Pol Pot died in 1978
and those of his inner circle who survived have until now remained unpunished.
One of only five children who survived Tuol Sleng,
the infamous Khmer Rouge interrogation centre, is to be a witness at the trial
of the prison director Kaing Kech Ieu, alias Comrade Duch.
-
Pray for Norng Chan Phai, now 38, as he gives
evidence as one of only 5 children who survived the horrors of this time. Pray
for strength to stand as a true witness to the events.
-
Let us use this as a timely reminder to pray
for the many children in our world today who are imprisoned and abused as a
result of tyrannical leaders.
-
Pray that justice will be seen to be done in
this UN backed trial, especially tomorrow at the pre trial hearing.
INTERNET DANGERS
According to recent surveys, over 60 percent of
children and teenagers talk in chat rooms on a daily basis. Three in four
children online are willing to share personal information about themselves and
their family in exchange for goods and services. One in five children will be
targeted by a predator or pedophile each year. The UN telecom agency and the
European Commission have teamed up to protect children - among the most active
and most vulnerable users of the Internet - from online dangers, including
cyber-bullying and pedophilia.
SCRIPTURAL ENCOURAGEMENTS
Hebrew 4 v 12 -13
‘For the word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and
spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and
laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account’.
Thank you for praying.
