ORPHANOS

Next week, Orphanos will be sending a team to our partner home in Colombia.  This team is ready and excited about what God has already done in preparing for this trip.  Last month we told you about the bats that were taking over the roof at this home.  God has answered our prayers and provided all the funds to repair the roof.  When we pray, God hears our cry and will answer according to His will.  Thank you for faithfully lifting request like these to our Father to care for children at risk around the world.

  • Praise God for providing the funds to repair the roof.

  • Pray that the project will be completed soon so Lucy and the children can use the building again.

  • Pray that God will be with the workers repairing the roof and keep them safe.

  • Pray for the team leaving for La Aljaba on February 12th returning February 17th.

KONE KMENG – CAMBODIAN NETWORK FINDS FAVOUR WITH NATIONAL HOSPITAL.

It is encouraging when we hear of stories of how ministries and projects working with children at risk are offered free medical treatment and find favour with Doctors and hospitals.

Pang Sophany, director of the ‘Kone Kmeng’ network reports that there is now good cooperation between CBN and a National paediatric hospital who have agreed to provide free operations for cleft palate repair. Recently the first child went through the process of cleft palate repair and has made remarkable recovery. People are so encouraged that this little girl is now smiling and looks totally different and they can’t believe the transformation that has happened in such a short space of time.

  • Pray that Kone Kmeng achieve their target of 50 cleft lip repair operations this year. (Provided free through the hospital.)

  • Pray for the little girl and others like her who will be having the operation that they would not only know the benefits externally but that they would come to know the Father’s love deep in their hearts.

  • Thank God for the many medical doctors and nurses who volunteer their time and expertise to help those who cannot afford hospital care or to receive treatment.

SRI LANKA

With the Sri Lankan military attempting to squeeze the Tamil Tigers into a ever smaller patch of the north-eastern shore, fighting has become bloody and intense. Even today there has been report of artillery shells hitting a children’s ward in a hospital, killing 9 and injuring 20. Increasing numbers of children are being injured in this conflict.

The Red Cross estimates 250,000 civilians are in the rebel-held area, which is little more than jungle and villages, while the government says the number is smaller. The rebels have been fighting since 1983 for a separate homeland for ethnic minority Tamils in the north and east after decades of marginalization by governments controlled by the Sinhalese majority.

Many of us might also not be aware that the "Prohibition of Forcible Religious Conversions Bill" or the Anti-conversion Bill has been given the green light to be referred back to Parliament for the final vote. (If passed, this law could be implemented this month!) This will have huge implications and would only cause further disruption and hatred in this already war torn country.

  • Urgently pray that the bill does NOT get passed this month and that there will be some sort of intervention which will prevent it from becoming a law.

  • Pray for our brothers and sisters in this Nation who already face discrimination. Pray that they would model unity across cultural groups and be a witness to the love and compassion of Jesus.

  • Pray for those in the war torn area that there would be cessation of conflict.

  • Pray for hospitals and schools where children and the vulnerable are based, that they would be protected.

  • We also remember other areas of conflict around the world and the suffering of the vulnerable women and children. (especially DRC, Gaza/Israel.)

ZIMBABWE

The International Red Cross reports that water systems are finally being restored in the Harare through outside agencies. Roughly 6000 people have been infected with Cholera since the outbreak.

  • Let’s continue to hold the children of this Nation to heart that somehow through the brokenness light would dawn and the unique design that our Father has purposed for them would be released to them and through them.

  • Pray for those father’s and mothers in the land whose hearts remain steadfast in serving this generation.

  • Pray for the outside agencies who are working to support the collapsed infrastructure of this Nation. Pray for favour and success to ease the burden of the people.

  • Pray for righteous governance which is compassionate towards the people.

Thank you for praying.
