Orphanos - Home Office

Orphanos is on the hunt for a new team member in our home office!  Recently the coordinator for our Internship Program felt called to pursue some ministry options with her husband and family, and that has left a big hole for us.

  • Please pray God will quickly send us a qualified person.
  • Please pray for our wisdom in the interview processes.
  • Ask God to send us the financial resources to compensate a team member at this skill level.

Orphanos - Mexico

One of our 2007 Service Adventure interns has returned to her place of service in Mexico for a one year commitment.  Lindsey Dunn went to Pan De Vida for two months during the summer of 07, and has now returned to give the children one year of her life.  Lindsey is providing much needed assistance in the kitchen (can you imagine feeding 125 three meals a day?) and also spending time with some of the other short term volunteers who visit.

  • Pray that Lindsey's adjustment to life in MX will be smooth.
  • Pray that she will have wisdom in all her dealings with children, staff, volunteers, and Mexican nationals.

Romania -

The Romania International Children’s Foundation, (RICF) working with abandoned and orphaned boys has asked for urgent prayer. Recently one of their major sponsors has at very short notice withdrawn their funding. This has left them facing some difficult decisions. They ask for specific prayer support as they continue to seek God's guidance:

  • Pray that God will continue to be glorified through the work of RICF and that Jesus will remain at the centre of everything they do.
  • Ask God to give the RICF Board and staff wisdom and courage, trusting God in all things so that his will, will be done through RICF.
  • Pray for the protection of all our boys now and in the future and that God would bless them richly and provide for all their needs.
  • Thank God for the continued support we receive from our sponsors and volunteers. Pray that this will continue and that God will provide additional sponsorship for RICF.

Increasing Persecution in India -

Since the last email there have been further reports of great suffering and persecution happening in Orissa, India.

  • Let’s continue to pray for the situation there.
  • Pray for the many projects and agencies who are working with the best interests of children at heart. For their protection and supernatural intervention.

Bolivia -

The political situation in Bolivia is once again looking volatile and as always the projects on the ground suffer in terms of getting resources and basic supplies. Santa Cruz is particularly unsettled. The situation is extremely tense, as food and fuel shortages intensify. Meanwhile regional governments have announced they are appointing their own taxation authorities and their own police and immigration officials.

  • Pray for Operation Restoration working in Bolivia and other projects like them looking after many children and needing supplies.
  • Pray for peaceful resolutions, divine testimonies to the goodness of our God.

Zimbabwe -

The situation the people face here is never far from our hearts as we continue to receive emails from projects relaying woeful stories of the suffering and injustice they face. This week we hear of potential ‘political resolution’ through the allocation of presidential and prime ministerial roles.

  • Pray for strength and encouragement for the many projects and ministries who have continued to serve the children in their time of greatest need.
  • Pray that they would know great reward as they minister as the hands and feet of Jesus and that they would know His strength and supernatural intervention.
  • Pray that there would be IMMEDIATE good effect in the light of this new political situation.
