ORPHANOS - HOME OFFICE
Orphanos was informed late last month that
our lease would not be renewed at our then current office.
We had 30 days to find a new home! Praise God we were able
to find effective space that required little work to move into.
During the last two weeks of October we boxed and packed and
drove and unpacked. It was a hectic week, but we made it!
Our new space is at 8289 Cordova Rd, Cordova, TN 38018.
The phone numbers remain the same.
-
Praise for a quick and effective move.
-
Pray for our unpacking and re-organizing of
the office.
-
Pray for our new location, that it would
always be a place of honor and glory for the Lord.
WORLD ECONOMY -
We are beginning to receive emails from local
projects who are being affected by the financial crisis which is
hitting the world. To encourage our prayers I have copied a
recent email from Bangladesh -
“Emergency prayer is needed for one of our
Family-Like Childrens Home. During last three years we are
running this home with 10 wonderful girls who came in our home
with nothing. We Praise God for last three years as now these 10
sweet and precious Girls know about Jesus and pray to God every
morning and evening. They are getting very good education too.
One of our friends was raising support for those 10 girls. But
last 2 months he is not sending any support and last week I got
email from him that he is not able to raise any more support for
our home because of world economic crisis. I am now borrowing
money and running this Family -Like Children’s Home. I am
requesting you to pray for God’s provision for our Girls Home.
We believe God can move the Mountain. Thank you very very
much for your prayer Support for our Ministry. “
-
Pray that God would raise up people in
these days who are not shaken by financial threats but who
walk by faith and that there would be continued support to
those where commitment has been made.
-
Thank God for the many thousands of
individuals who do support projects like the one above in
Bangladesh. Pray that even MORE people would be encouraged to
respond in compassion to the needs of those who are trying to
father the fatherless.
-
Pray that the church at large would begin
to model a different message to the one of fear that the media
is fuelling. Pray that we who are called to be the hands and
feet of Jesus would be the head and not the tail at this
historic time.
PARTNERING IN THE MICAH CALL -
Sunday 19th October is Micah Sunday. People
are invited to mark this Sunday in their churches to pray for
current global issues. ‘Micah challenge’ writes -
‘Theresa of Calcutta once told about a time a
man arrived at the house where the Missionaries of Charity lived
to tell them about a Hindu family with eight children. They
hadn’t eaten for several days. This man asked that something be
done for them, so Theresa immediately took some rice and went to
visit them. She told about how the children’s eyes were glazed
over with hunger. When the mother received the rice, however,
she split it into two portions and left the house with one of
them. When she returned, Theresa asked her what she had done
with the other portion of rice. She said that she had taken it
to some Muslim neighbors of hers who hadn’t eaten for even more
days than them. She added, “They are hungry too.”

-
Pray that there will be fruitful response
to this prayer initiative.
-
Pray that the Micah challenge is received
well and that more people get behind partnering together
especially those working for and on behalf of children at
risk.
-
Pray that there will be more and greater
strategic connections within the body of Christ to see the
Millennium Development Goals attained.
BOLIVIA, ZIMBABWE, INDIA -
These have been on our prayer radar for a
number of months and we want to keep on persisting in prayer for
these political situations and the knock on effects they have on
the next generation.
-
Pray for families and communities as they
try to rebuild after the various incidents and hardships.
-
Pray for sensitivity and awareness towards
the children who have been affected by the disruption to their
communities.
-
Continue to pray blessing upon the
Christian leaders that God has appointed as watchmen over
these areas that Godly ‘father’s’ would be raised up who will
guard the lives of the children.
