Updates from Brazil!

Dear friends,
Greetings in the name of Jesus.

It is my prayer and desire that you are fine and enjoying some warmer weather there in the USA. For us here we have had a lot of rain these days and we are about to have our winter. It will be good.

Visa Interview:
In my last update I asked you to pray for my visa interview in Sao Paulo. Let me thank you all for praying and also for giving so I could pay all the fees and travel to Sao Paulo for that interview. I was NOT granted to visa to go to the US and even though I really wanted to go there and spend some time with family, meet my nephew James and also visit my supporters, that will not happen.

I remember asking you to pray for God's will, so regardless of the outcome of the interview, I have to believe the answer is in God's hands. Of course I was sad, but not discouraged. I just had to remind myself that God is in control and it was not his will for me to go there, at this time. I know this interview process is expensive, so thank you, everyone, for investing in me.

My biggest encouragement though, came when I arrived back at Lar Batista. The children ran to me, hugged me and several of them said: "Thank God you did not get a visa, we want you here. We need you here" I guess it just doesn't get any clearer than that. God wants me here for now. He will provide a way for me to rest over here. Again, thank you for your prayers.

Home school?
Another update I want to bring to you is about Joao Paulo. He is doing well and he has had to make some adjustment to his life since his surgery. Of curse the number one request from the doctors is that he would sit still, take it easy and that has been very difficult for him. You can pray for him in this area. The healing process is long and the progress he has made so far is really good. Doctors say it will take up to three months and a few revision visits to the clinic for his vision to adjust. Please continue to pray for him. He cannot go to school either, so that makes it harder.

Last week Joao Paulo had a great surprise, his teacher, headmaster andClass at Lar the area administrator came to visit him with his whole class! They had been missing him a lot. Since JP could not go to school, they Joao Paulo's class comes to Larcame up with the idea of a field trip to our house! Joao just could not believe that they ALL had come to his house. It was a very festive morning and all the children had a lot of fun here at Lar. Joao Paulo made a point to give them the tour, they took many pictures and when they got toClass at Lar the chapel, Joao Paulo shared with them his testimony. One of his friends said: "Wow Joao, you live in a mansion!" That was fun because that is what Pai always wished his children could say that they live in the most beautiful house ion their street!

Joao giving the class the tour of LarAfter the tour of Lar, the classmates had a great mid morning snack with cakes and tea and they really had a hard time going back to school! I am sure that for Joao Paulo as well as for hisSnack Time friends and school staff this as a morning they are not likely to forget. They got to be in our classroom and Joao Paulo got a feel for the classroom again. May God bless each little friend who could experience some time in Joao Paulo's life, which is so special and so blessed by God.

I just wanted to share this with you all. Thank you for praying for us and we know that even though our battles are many, the victories that we have are directly linked with the love and prayers of each one of you. May God bless you and we will be in touch.

In the love of Christ,

Rute
