Spring cleaning of the soul

posted by Grace Fragoso — April 2nd, 2009

Today is a stormy day and I sit here in my office looking through my window into a field which is getting greener by the minute! I cannot wait for it to be completely lush green and I love it!

In spite of all my seasonal allergies, I love spring and the renewal of all things in creation, point to Easter and my favorite, resurrection Sunday! What a blessing to be able to celebrate the Risen Lord!

Spring also calls for a deep cleaning of the house, closet and everything else, so why not a cleansing of thoughts and even soul? That will be my personal challenge, to work on all that cleaning process. I will need help in so many ways! Please pray for me.

Just the other day my friend Monica came over with a very special gift. She got me started on this cleaning marathon. Not that the house was a wreck, but she has the gift of making things pretty and after she spent some hours in my house, everything was spotless and  so pleasant  that I just wanted to stay there  as much as I could. I am so thankful to God for such a friend!

The cleansing of the soul and thoughts was a gift from another friend, Susie, who recommended me a book that has been a true blessing. Praying God's Word, by Beth Moore. Not only does it teach you to pray scriptures throughout your day, it also opens our eyes to spiritual strongholds, some of which we are aware and some we have no idea that they are present in our lives. I truly recommend it. I added to that Chris Rice's hymns CD, Peace like a river and that has been my soundtrack for this season.

I have also made a point to spend time with dear friends of mine whom I have not seen in a long time, so I am going to meet with different people as the weeks go by and rekindle our commitment to pray for each other and be involved in each other's life. I am sure this will be great. If you would like to meet me for coffee or something like that, please let me know. This has a high priority in my life right now.

To top this period with the cherry on the Ice-cream, God gave me a 10 day break for rest. If you have been around me at all in the last year, you have heard me say that I am tired and need a break. God heard my prayers and allowed me to go to be with my sister Marta and her husband Beto for 10 days. They live in Paris, France so this should be fantastic. The tickets were a gift to me and I cannot thank God enough for such a great opportunity.

One thing that will be very important in this season of my life is your prayers. Please keep me in your prayers. One can think that a missionary has it all together at all times and never needs to be recharged, but I beg to differ. It is when I am exhausted and discouraged that the enemy messes with me. I believe that is true to us all.

Your gift of prayer is the best thing you can give me, and I will never be able to thank you just enough.

Thank you and let me know what God is doing in your life.

In His hands,

grace
